AMD Xilinx EP71XX Reference Designs

The EP71xx family of step-down Integrated Voltage Regulators (IVRs) from Empower Semiconductor offers solutions to power various AMD Xilinx FGPAs using the least number of components, in some cases a one or two chip solution. The following solutions are offered to meet power requirements for targeted AMD Xilinx FPGA device families such as the Spartan 7, Artix Ultra Scale+, Zynq Ultra Scale+, and the Kintex Ultra Scale+.

Our technology has simplified the design process for powering FPGAs and significantly reduced the solution complexity and size by integrating a number of regulators onto one chip, providing independent and easy programmability, and enabling user-defined customization through multi-time programmable memory (MTP). Furthermore, an interposer option offers the simplest solution on the PCB with a single component BOM.

Integrated IVR sequencing allows the user to customize the order that the outputs start-up to fit the individual needs of the FPGA. Operating from a nominal 3.3V input supply, the EP71xx offers industry’s highest density, with the simplest BOM and best performance for powering Xilinx AMD FPGAs.
